Foie Gras

On August 22, foie gras will become banned in the city of Chicago. In protest, above, you see my dinner, foie gras and some french cheeses. There is a reason people have been force feeding birds since the days of ancient egypt.
On a more seroius note, I would like to speak of the cruelty to animals issue at hand. The birds used live "free range" in the production of Foie Gras. Only in the last two weeks are they force fed. The chickens that people in america eat do not live so well. They live thier entire lives in small cages. So if you are going to ban Foie Gras on the grounds of animal cruelty, ban chicken as well. Simple web searches can yield much more information on this issue.

post scriptum
For those foie gras connoisseurs that notice the bottle of rose wine in the picture, I was not the one shopping for this meal. It was my wife. I properly told her that in the future foie gras should be served with white wine.

That's France for you

I know what an eagle carrying an olive branch or borken arrow in it's claws symbolizes, but what does an eagle clutching a bottle of wine symbolize? This picture was taken in Saint Louis, France.
