“Buying” cars in America vs. Switzerland

Finally, something good to blog about.

I read a story about what percentage of cars are leased here in Switzerland. The news article
compared the differing region of Switzerland, which also happened to conform to stereotypes of
the people who live in these regions. ( long story short, fewer French speaking and Italian speaking
persons pay cash for their cars)

I read that and wondered what it was like in the US. Were the Americans just as likely as to buy
their cars on credit as the French Swiss?

Well here are the results.

US car purchases
Pay cash ....................................11%
Lease .........................................18.5%
Buy on credit ...........................70.5%

Swiss car purchases
Pay cash ...................................... 75%
Lease .........................................14%
Buy on credit ..............................11%

Conclusion, the German speaking Swiss should look at how many Americans buy their cars on
credit before they stick their noses in the air speaking about the lazy French speaking Swiss.

81% of the german speaking Swiss pay cash for thier cars.
